On 1 November – the day of the national revival leaders, BORICA AD organized Open doors day for its youngest "employees". During the "Open doors day" initiative, part of the program of the United Nations Global Compact Network Bulgaria – "Proud of my parents’ work", children of BORICA’s employees from the Sofia offices visited the company’s Headquarters and Operation Center. “The date 1 November was not selected at random. Today, we all have to take care and are obliged to be enlighteners for the younger generation, to awaken in the future active people the desire to contribute to the society and to work for prosperity - both social and personal”, BORICA’s organizers commented. The aim of the initiative "Proud of my parents’ work" is to show children that labour is a necessity and value and that every person is needed and useful to the society regardless of their profession.

“At BORICA we believe that our employees are our most valuable asset and we strive to appreciate their contribution in front of  their most important audience – their children”, said Miroslav Vichev, Chief Executive Officer of the company, at the “Open doors day” opening. He shared that the initiative was enthusiastically welcomed by the company's team and the parents - employees, who joined the organization with great desire, empathy and willingness to cooperate.  

40 children, divided into two age groups – 7-10 years old and 11-14 years old, spent one day at their parents' offices in the company's two buildings in Sofia. In a casual atmosphere, through entertainment games, tasks and specially developed educational programs, the children became acquainted with the work specifications of the employees in the structures: Human Resources, Finance and Control, Sales, Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Cards personalization, ATM Servicing, Physical Security and Help Desk.

The kids have learned what a Human Resources Specialist at BORICA is doing and how important it is for the company's success. What do kids want to be when they grow up and what and how they have to learn in order to fulfil their dreams, which subjects in school are of utmost importance, what extracurricular activities to choose, and how to continue their education? The children tried to find an answer to all these questions, helped and directed by BORICA's Human Resources team. The short sample job interviews, in which the kids got involved with enthusiasm and curiosity helped them to touch the essence of the work of human resources specialists.

The children received a large and delicious cake in the Finance and Control Department that illustrated the family budget - it was first "analyzed" and then eaten quickly and with delight. The three teams - Accounting, Supply, Analysis and Control have embarked on a "financial" race and a noble battle to win the certificates for “Best financier”.

How to trigger an alarm and in what cases, for what is the emergency exit used and when, why is the security important, what are the security measures in the office, where cards are issued, and why a high level of security at this place is so important - these are just some of the questions and answers that have revealed a new world of corporate security and security rules to the kids, and the subsequent live demonstration aroused their curiosity. The children also became acquainted with the process of cards printing, where each child received a personalized bank demo card without a nominal.

In the Help Desk and Sales Departments, the kids learned why it is important to have a special attitude and attention to the clients, how they should be serviced in the best possible way and how to make a "real" call with a client with the help of the equipment in the Help Desk. They were also interested in the information, provided in a manner suitable for their age, revealing what a server room is and what is data storage and processing.

One of the most exciting moments in the whole tour was to take a look "behind the scenes" of an ATM, checking what was inside this device and how it worked.

The best drawing competition with a theme "What do I want to be", stimulated the imagination and fired the enthusiasm of the kids and in the end every child received a certificate for participation in the initiative "Proud of my parents’ work". Many awards, photos and, of course, sweets accompanied BORICA's young "employees" on 1 November - a day full of emotions, educational games and new knowledge gained.
