The most popular electronic signature in Bulgaria – B-Trust, turned 15 years old
On 1 April 2003, Bankservice AD issued B-Trust electronic signature certificate for a first time. On that date was launched the service, and its first user was the United Bulgarian Bank. For short, the electronic signature became widely used by all the other banks in the country, and today the clients of the service are already over 100 000 individuals and companies in Bulgaria.
A team of experts, including foreign consultants, who used the know-how of the leading PKI company – Utimaco Germany, worked on the development of the B-Trust service for one year.
Today BORICA is the biggest registered Qualified Certification Services Provider in the country. As such, the company builds, operates and develops national PKI infrastructure for issuance of electronic certificates and certification services.
The Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) is equal to a handwritten signature. The signed electronic document remains signed, no matter if stored on a magnetic, optical or other digital media.
The main advantage of the electronic signature is that it allows the use of e-services of public and municipal administration – e.g. to submit tax returns, applications, appeals and all other documents that you exchange with the state structures.
“The electronic signature is the shortest route to the e-government, which makes it easier for businesses and citizens to communicate with the institutions,” shares Krasimir Georchev, Sales Director at BORICA. “The number of e-services that the state provides grows daily, and hence the need for such identifications and authorizations," he adds.
The electronic signature is also a tool that allows internet banking to be used to make payment transactions in a fast, convenient and secure manner. Specialized signatures have various usages such as: data authentication on a server; e-mail protection; encryption/decryption of information; virtual private network (VPN) identity authentication.
Within a month, the company will offer to the market the so-called Cloud QES that will provide clients with the possibility to sign documents through their mobile devices in a quick, easy and secure manner. In addition, the service will enable businesses – banks, telecoms, financial institutions, etc. to sell all their products through digital channels.
